Philosophy of the M302/F401 Linking Courses:

The M302/F401 Mathematics Throughout the Curriculum courses are based on the belief that mathematics teachers are more effective when they understand the connections between college-level mathematics and 7th – 12th grade mathematics.  In making these connections, we believe it is important for linking-course students to experience instruction that is based on problem-solving activities and conceptual learning.

Goals of the M302/F401 Linking Courses:

    • Make connections between college-level and 7 – 12 mathematics.
    • Make intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary connections in 7 – 12 mathematics
    • Understand how concepts grow into the formal topics of college-level math and how informal experience with those concepts is important in grades 7 – 12.
    • Use advanced mathematics and technology to design problems and lessons appropriate for students in 7 – 12 mathematics.
